A Class of Estimators for Estimating the Variance of the Ratio Estimator [PDF]

open access: yesJOURNAL OF THE JAPAN STATISTICAL SOCIETY, 2004
Summary: We have proposed a class of estimators for the variance of the ratio estimator which includes two standard estimators \(V_0\), \(V_2\) and the estimators \(V_H\) and \(V_3\) suggested by \textit{R. M. Royall} and \textit{K. R. Eberhardt} [Sankya, Ser. C 37, 43--52 (1975; Zbl 0335.62007)] and \textit{C. F.

Minimax boundary estimation and estimation with boundary

open access: yesBernoulli, 2023
We derive non-asymptotic minimax bounds for the Hausdorff estimation of $d$-dimensional submanifolds $M \subset \mathbb{R}^D$ with (possibly) non-empty boundary $\partial M$. The model reunites and extends the most prevalent $\mathcal{C}^2$-type set estimation models: manifolds without boundary, and full-dimensional domains.

Pan-Sharpening Based on Convolutional Neural Network by Using the Loss Function With No-Reference

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2021
In order to preserve the spatial and spectral information of the original panchromatic and multispectral images, this article designs a loss function suitable for pan-sharpening and a four-layer convolutional neural network that could adequately extract ...

Estimation in high dimensions: a geometric perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This tutorial provides an exposition of a flexible geometric framework for high dimensional estimation problems with constraints. The tutorial develops geometric intuition about high dimensional sets, justifies it with some results of asymptotic convex ...

Fast, non-monte-carlo estimation of transient performance variation due to device mismatch [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper describes an efficient way of simulating the effects of device random mismatch on circuit transient characteristics, such as variations in delay or in frequency.

Introducing gradient severe shot peening as a novel mechanical surface treatment

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Shot peening is widely used for improving mechanical properties especially fatigue behavior of metallic components by inducing surface hardening, compressive residual stresses and surface grain refinement.

Position estimation delays in signal injection-based sensorless PMSM drives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The causes of position estimation delays and their effects on the sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motor drives are investigated. The position of a permanent magnet synchronous machine is estimated via the injection of high frequency ...

Partition optimization for a random process realization to estimate its expected value [PDF]

open access: yesSerbian Journal of Electrical Engineering, 2017
The paper provides an analytical proof the optimal number of partitions of a non-stationary random process realization, which is necessary for estimating its expected value when using “the estimation reproduction” method for signal processing ...
