Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

An innovative hybrid model combining informer and K‐Means clustering methods for invisible multisite solar power estimation

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation
The employment of behind‐the‐meter solar photovoltaic (PV) systems has gained increasing popularity in recent years as more individuals and organizations aim to reduce their reliance on conventional grid‐connected power sources and take advantage of the ...

Cost-Optimized Video Dissemination Over Heterogeneous Cloud With SLAs Support

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A growing number of social video distribution services are turning toward to the cloud-based architecture for lower cost and better scalability. Although appealing, such a cloud content delivery network (cloud-based CDN) involves two key tasks: to ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

High‐Rise Architectural Landmarks Detection and Identification by Spatio‐Probabilistic Models for UAV Anti‐Collision Radar—A Real Data Case

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) heavily rely on GPS, a system vulnerable to signal interference in complex urban environments. Although radar systems offer a robust alternative due to their ability to effectively penetrate adverse weather and operate in ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Multi-radar target parameter estimation and fusion based on attribute scattering centre model

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This study proposes a method of observing the same target from different radars to extract more useful target information, solving the problem of target occlusion in monostatic radar.

A general model for analysis of linear and hyperbolic enzyme inhibition mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We developed a general enzyme kinetic model that integrates these six basic inhibition mechanism onto a single one. From this model, we deduced a general enzyme kinetic equation that through modulation of simple parameters, γ (the relative inhibitor affinity for two binding sites) and β (the reactivity of the enzyme–substrate–inhibitor complex), is ...

Quantifying insect migration across Bohai strait using weather radar

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Weather radars provide continuous recording over extensive spatial coverage, which is valuable for biologists who observe and study biological activities over a wide range of temporal and spatial scales.

Long‐term culture of skin biopsies: maintenance of fibroblast production and competency of reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Skin biopsies taken from a patient with an ultra‐rare disorder as well as controls were cultured for up to 473 days. The chunks of skin were serially transferred to a new culture plate when confluent with fibroblasts. Different generations of fibroblasts were analyzed for cell and molecular properties, proliferation, and competence for reprogramming to
