β-arrestin regulates estradiol membrane-initiated signaling in hypothalamic neurons. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Estradiol (E2) action in the nervous system is the result of both direct nuclear and membrane-initiated signaling (EMS). E2 regulates membrane estrogen receptor-α (ERα) levels through opposing mechanisms of EMS-mediated trafficking and internalization ...

Repurposing FDA-approved drugs to fight COVID-19 using in silico methods: Targeting SARS-CoV-2 RdRp enzyme and host cell receptors (ACE2, CD147) through virtual screening and molecular dynamic simulations

open access: yesInformatics in Medicine Unlocked, 2021
Background: Different approaches have been proved effective for combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Accordingly, in silico drug repurposing strategy, has been highly regarded as an accurate computational tool to achieve fast and reliable results ...

Gonadal hormones, but not sex, affect the acquisition and maintenance of a Go/No-Go odor discrimination task in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In mice, olfaction is crucial for identifying social odors (pheromones) that signal the presence of suitable mates. We used a custom-built olfactometer and a thirst-motivated olfactory discrimination Go/No-Go (GNG) task to ask whether discrimination of ...

The effect of intrahippocampal injection of estradiol on spatial memory in male rats during multiple sclerosis disease [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Biomedical Sciences, 2014
Background & Objective: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disease of central nervous system, which is approximately two to three times more common in women than men. It was suggested that sexual hormones affect MS disease.

Prostaglandin F2α or estradiol benzoate to induce ovulation in timed artificially inseminated dairy cows [PDF]

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2016
: The objective of this work was to compare two types of ovulation inducers - estradiol benzoate (EB group) or prostaglandin F2α (PG group) -, in postpartum dairy cows subjected to timed artificial insemination (TAI).

Response of Sows to Estradiol Benzoate after Weaning.

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 1994
Estradiol benzoate (E2B) was intramuscularly injected in 3 groups of weaned sows at a dose of 0.2 mg/head on day 0 and on day 2 and at a dose of 0.4 mg/head on day 2, respectively. The blood concentration of LH rose to a peak 60-66 hr after E2B injection. The rates of the occurrence of estrus after E2B treatment in these groups were 85.7, 89.5 and 87.5%

Effect of Different Protocols of Fixed-Time Artificial Insemination on Mucus, Ovarian Size, and Pregnancy of Mixed-Breed Cows in the Humid Tropics of Peru

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International, 2023
The objective of the research was to evaluate three synchronization protocols for fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) in Bos indicus with Bos taurus crossbred cows. Forty-five cows of 5 ± 1.6 years were selected.

Characterization of atrazine-induced gonadal malformations in African clawed frogs (Xenopus laevis) and comparisons with effects of an androgen antagonist (cyproterone acetate) and exogenous estrogen (17beta-estradiol): Support for the demasculinization/feminization hypothesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Atrazine is a potent endocrine disruptor that both chemically castrates and feminizes male amphibians. It depletes androgens in adult frogs and reduces androgen-dependent growth of the larynx in developing male larvae.

Semelhança entre os mecanismos de formação da anemia por soro anti-plaqueta e por benzoato de estradiol

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1945
Benzoato de estradiol aplicado em altas doses a cães tem uma ação essencialmente trombocitopênica e o mecanismo de formação da anemia que se estabelece é semelhante ao observado na anemia da purpura experimental pelo sôro anti-plaqueta.
