[Catechol estrogens].

open access: yesSouth African medical journal = Suid-Afrikaanse tydskrif vir geneeskunde, 1980
Hydroxylation of oestrogens in the 2 or 4 positions leads to the formation of catechol oestrogens. These compounds are physiologically active in animals, especially in the control of gonadotropin secretion. Physiological activity can be ascribed to either an oestrogenic action or interaction with the catecholaminergic systems.

Meta‐Analysis of CYP1A1 MspI and Ile462Val Polymorphisms in Cancer Susceptibility Among Different Ethnic Populations

open access: yesEnvironmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, Volume 67, Issue 1-2, January‐February 2026.
ABSTRACT The Cytochrome P450 1A1 (CYP1A1) gene plays a crucial role in the production of enzymes involved in the metabolic activation and detoxification of harmful carcinogens, which are essential for genetic susceptibility to cancer. Due to the inconsistent findings obtained from population‐based studies, it is crucial to systematically investigate ...

Dual role of estrogens in endometrial cancer

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2014
Increased local concentrations of estrogens are a well-known risk factor for endometrial cancer. Estrogens can act as mitogens via the estrogen receptors, and by forming oxidative metabolites they can act as cancer initiators.
