Expression of progesterone receptor membrane component-1 in bovine reproductive system during estrous cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Several reports suggest the participation of progesterone receptor membrane component 1 (PGRMC1) in progesterone signaling in the reproductive system. This study aimed at investigating the presence and localization of PGRMC1 in bovine ovary, oviduct and ...

Constipation and urinary retention caused by a vaginal epithelial inclusion cyst in a 1 year old intact cat

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract This case report describes a rare instance of a keratinising vaginal epithelial inclusion cyst causing significant clinical signs in a 1‐year‐old domestic shorthair queen. The cat presented with severe constipation, urinary retention and a caudal abdominal/cranial intrapelvic mass identified on diagnostic imaging.

A short note on Reitlinger thermodynamic cycles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
It is well known that Carnot cycle is the thermodynamic cycle which has the best thermal efficiency. However, an entire class of cycles exists that can have the same maximum efficiency: this class is that of the regenerative Reitlinger cycles. Here we discuss them.

Medial prefrontal cortex neuronal activation and synaptic alterations after stress-induced reinstatement of palatable food seeking: a study using c-fos-GFP transgenic female rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Relapse to maladaptive eating habits during dieting is often provoked by stress and there is evidence for a role of ovarian hormones in stress responses and feeding.

Recovery from Age-Related Infertility under Environmental Light-Dark Cycles Adjusted to the Intrinsic Circadian Period

open access: yesCell Reports, 2015
Female reproductive function changes during aging with the estrous cycle becoming more irregular during the transition to menopause. We found that intermittent shifts of the light-dark cycle disrupted regularity of estrous cycles in middle-aged female ...

Disruption of Estrous Cycles in Exercise-Trained Rats

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1985
The female Sprague-Dawley rat was evaluated as an animal model for the menstrual irregularities that are common in women athletes. Daily vaginal smears revealed that estrous cycles were markedly disrupted in rats during a 10-week exercise training program, while cycles remained normal in sedentary rats.

Factors affecting estrus and fertility of Holstein heifers after prostaglandin F2α [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Stage of the estrous cycle, time of insemination, and season of the year were examined for their influence on estrus and fertility of 223 Holstein heifers after prostaglandin F2α(PGF).

Planning and optimizing neutering programs for free‐roaming cat populations: An interactive tool for cost‐effective management in closed systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, EarlyView.
Our interactive tool enables data‐driven planning of neutering programs, helping stakeholders optimize resource allocation and improve long‐term outcomes. This approach enhances management effectiveness and can be adapted to similar closed systems, offering a scalable solution for balancing ecological and societal concerns.

Index Codes for Interlinked Cycle Structures with Outer Cycles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Index code construction for a class of side-information graphs called interlinked cycle (IC) structures without outer cycles is given by Thapa, Ong and Johnson (C. Thapa, L. Ong, and S. Johnson, "Interlinked Cycles for Index Coding: Generalizing Cycles and Cliques", in \textit{IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, vol. 63, no. 6, Jun. 2017}, "Interlinked Cycles for

Comparison of the Effects of Early Pregnancy with Human Interferon, Alpha 2 (IFNA2), on Gene Expression in Bovine Endometrium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Interferon tau (IFNT), a type I IFN similar to alpha IFNs (IFNA), is the pregnancy recognition signal produced by the ruminant conceptus. To elucidate specific effects of bovine IFNT and of other conceptus-derived factors, endometrial gene expression ...
