Status epilepticus: Updates on mechanisms and treatments

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Status epilepticus (SE) consists of prolonged, self‐sustaining seizures and is a common neurological emergency that causes respiratory compromise and neuronal injury. Without prompt treatment, the seizures can become resistant to benzodiazepines, leading to the progressive evolution of established, refractory, and super‐refractory SE.

Risk Factors Influencing Conception Rate in Holstein Heifers before Artificial Insemination or Embryo Transfer

open access: yesMedia Peternakan, 2016
The objective of this study was to show the risk factors affecting the conception rate in Holstein heifers after synchronization of estrus. A total of 275 Holstein heifers housed in a free barn were used for the experiment. The herd was visited regularly

Impact of donor mare and stallion identity on the likelihood of pregnancy after transfer of in vitro produced embryos

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The success of in vitro embryo production (IVEP) is influenced by donor mare and stallion. Objectives To determine whether donor mare and stallion influence the pregnancy rate after transfer of in vitro produced (IVP) blastocysts and to identify factors influencing the likelihood of obtaining one or more pregnancies from a single ...

Estrus Synchronization and Conception Rates Using Locally Prepared Methylacetoxy- progesterone Sponges in Cyclic and Acyclic Nili-Ravi Buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Veterinary Journal, 2013
A study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of locally prepared intra-vaginal methylacetoxyprogesterone (MAP) sponges for estrus synchronization and conception rate in cyclic and acyclic Nili-Ravi buffaloes.

Portable Radar for Noncontact Heart Rate Monitoring and Estrus Detection in Dairy Cows

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Engineering, EarlyView.
This study introduces a portable radar system for real‐time monitoring of respiratory and heart rates in dairy cows. It uses millimeter‐wave Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar to perform noncontact physiological sensing, reducing behavioral disturbance. The radar system's design prioritizes portability, cost‐effectiveness, and robustness,

Factors associated with the reproductive performance of ewes inseminated laparoscopically in England and Wales: A longitudinal study

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Laparoscopic intrauterine artificial insemination (Lap‐AI) is used in sheep genetic improvement programmes. However, the lambing rate (LR) (i.e., the proportion of inseminated ewes that lamb) following Lap‐AI is variable. Previously, one small UK study investigated factors associated with LR, but it did not adjust for dependencies ...

Phenological responses to climate change: advancing mating and calving in wild and semi‐captive Caspian red deer

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Species respond to climate change through phenological and spatial shifts. Herbivorous mammals, in particular, are vulnerable due to their direct dependence on seasonal vegetation and the potential misalignment between their reproductive cycles and shifting food availability.

Evaluating the effects of different methods of estrus synchronization in the agouti (Dasyprocta leporina)

open access: yesTheriogenology Wild, 2023
There has been limited work done on estrus synchronization or induction in the Dasyprocta species. This experiment sought to apply three different methods of estrus synchronization to fifteen agoutis (Dasyprocta leporina) which were placed into three ...
