Gendering the Menstrual Cycle in Behavioral Neuroendocrinology

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Human Biology, Volume 38, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The menstrual cycle is increasingly described as a “vital sign of the female body,” with the literature suggesting cycle‐related brain and behavioral changes. With growing interest in the effects that the menstrual cycle has on the brain, body and mind, characterizing what constitutes healthy cycle‐related change has become a central goal of ...

Estrus Synchronization Using CIDR in Heifers.

open access: yesJournal of Reproduction and Development, 1994
The efficacy of the use of controlled internal drug releasing (CIDRR) device containing 1.9g progesterone in inducing estrus synchronization of heifers in Japan was first attested. Eighty-eight Holstein heifers were randomly designated for the 7, 12, and 14 days of CIDRR insertion periods.

The Transcription Factors Six3 and Six6 in Neuromedin‐S Neurons Differentially Affect Circadian Rhythms

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 104, Issue 4, April 2026.
Six3 and Six6 are necessary for the development of the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), and both remain expressed after SCN neurogenesis. We implemented a Neuromedin‐S (NMS)‐cre mouse model to conditionally knockout either Six3 or Six6 from the SCN to determine the post‐proliferative roles of these transcription factors in hypothalamic and circadian ...

Time‐Restricted Feeding Alters Behavior in a Sex‐Specific Manner in Mice With Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 8, 27 April 2026.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) alleviates anxiety‐like behavior in male mice with neuropathic pain (NP), but not in females. Upon nerve injury, TRF altered the diurnal expression of transcripts in the hypothalamus. These findings suggest that TRF should be explored as a new therapeutic approach to alleviate the comorbid anxiety in NP.
