Electronic mechanism of catalytic dehydration of ethanol
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 19831. On the basis of an analysis of the distribution of the deforming force among the atoms and bonds during electronic transitions it was shown that the dehydration of ethanol is promoted by capture of an electron from the catalyst by the adsorbed molecule. 2.

Rigorous MINLP model for ethanol dehydration system
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2000Abstract Ethanol dehydration systems are modeled and optimized using MINLP. The systems consist of a distillation column for approaching the ethanol/water azeotrope and a pervaporation system for producing pure ethanol. Rigorous modeling equations are employed for modeling both the column and the subsystem of membrane modules.

Two-dimensional MXene membrane for ethanol dehydration
Journal of Membrane Science, 2019Abstract Two-dimensional MXene membranes have been successfully used in separation technology. With controllable interlayer nanochannels, abundant surface-terminating groups and hydrophilicity, MXene membranes also exhibit the potential in alcohol dehydration.

Dehydration of Ethanol: New Approach Gives Positive Energy Balance
Science, 1979Water was removed from aqueous ethanol by using cellulosic materials, starch, corn, and other agents. The combustion energy of the ethanol product can exceed the energy needed to carry out the dehydration by a factor of 10.

Dehydrated circular DNA: Electron microscopy of ethanol-condensed molecules
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1976Abstract The ethanol-induced condensation of linear DNA from phage φ29, and circular DNA from phage PM2 and plasmid R6K, on air-dried electron microscope specimen grids has been analyzed by measuring size and shape of the resulting particles. Upon such dehydration, single DNA molecules are condensed into tight particles of three different classes of ...

Dehydration of Ethanol by Facile Synthesized Glucose-Based Silica
Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2013Bioethanol is considered a potential liquid fuel that can be produced from biomass by fermentation and distillation. Although most of the water is removed by distillation, the purity of ethanol is limited to 95-96 % due to the formation of a low-boiling point, water-ethanol azeotrope.

Thermal dehydration of 2-(4-aminophenyl)ethanol
Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2011The influence of inorganic nucleophilic agents on the liquid-phase process of thermal dehydration of 2-(4-aminophenyl)ethanol at 200–260°C was investigated. It was found that K2CO3, BaCO3, BaO, CaH2, and NaOH did not catalyze the dehydration, but the process takes place easily with the formation of 4-aminostyrene in high yield, using KOH in the range ...
