Ethylene production from ethanol dehydration over mesoporous SBA-15 catalyst derived from palm oil clinker waste [PDF]
The silica-rich palm oil clinker (POC) from oil palm agroindustry is often dumped in landfill. This work investigated the valorisation of POC into Santa Barbara Amorphous-15 (SBA-15) catalyst, the modulation of its surface acidity, and its application in

This work presents a programmable atomic engineering strategy for 2D materials using Å‐scale nanoreactors formed by bilayer graphene (BLG) intercalation. A new class of alkali‐iron‐chloride compounds, along with lateral heterostructures composed of monolayer alkali halides and iron chlorides, is revealed.

Postharvest Wine Grape Dehydration: ethanol dissipation from grape and biochemical changes [PDF]
Background: During postharvest dehydration, grapes are subject to metabolic changes including ethanol anabolism and catabolism. These changes affect the quality of the final product and ethanol production is a key step. Ethanol dissipation has never been

Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

A new microbial polysaccharide membrane for ethanol dehydration by pervaporation
Abstract In this study, a new microbial exopolysaccharide (EPS) membrane obtained from a low cost and abundant carbon source, the glycerol by-product of the biodiesel industry, was used for ethanol dehydration by pervaporation. Two types of membranes were prepared: homogeneous membranes obtained directly from the fermentation broth and crosslinked ...
