Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Effect of Sn Loading on the Characteristics of Pt Electrocatalysts Supported on Reduced Graphene Oxide for Application as Direct Ethanol Fuel Cell Anode

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2017
The effect of Sn loading (5–30 mol %) on Pt catalysts supported on reduced graphene oxide was investigated for ethanol electro-oxidation in acidic medium.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Facile and innovation synthesis of Zn-Mn-Co-LDH/polypyrrole and its application in investigating ethanol oxidation in an alkaline medium

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications
Overvoltage and low current are observed for ethanol electrooxidation on the surface of many unmodified electrodes. Therefore, it is desirable to use a suitable catalyst for ethanol electrooxidation to increase the current. This research introduces a new

Liquid-Phase Ethanol Oxidation and Gas-Phase CO Oxidation Reactions over M Doped (M = Ag, Au, Pd, and Ni) and MM′ Codoped CeO2 Nanoparticles

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2016
Transition metal doped metal oxides have been studied extensively for potential applications to environments and chemical industry. Herein, M doped (M = Ag, Au, Pd, and Ni) and MM′ codoped CeO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by a hydrothermal method ...

Degradation of acetaldehyde and its precursors by Pelobacter carbinolicus and P. acetylenicus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Pelobacter carbinolicus and P. acetylenicus oxidize ethanol in syntrophic cooperation with methanogens. Cocultures with Methanospirillum hungatei served as model systems for the elucidation of syntrophic ethanol oxidation previously done with the lost ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
