Boston, Mass., Jan. 6, 1897. To the Editor: —Considerable has been written on the comparative use and danger of ether and chloroform. Only a few weeks ago I saw an article in which was the statement that a number of deaths by chloroform had occurred in women in confinement. Not many months ago I also saw it stated that no such case is on record. Now,

Machine Learning‐Enabled Polymer Discovery for Enhanced Pulmonary siRNA Delivery
This study provides an efficient approach to train a machine learning model by merging heterogeneous literature data to predict suitable polymers for siRNA delivery. Without the need for extensive laboratory synthesis, the machine learning enabled a virtual screening and successfully predicted a polymer that is validated for effective gene silencing in

Etherification of Glycerol with Propylene or 1-Butene for Fuel Additives
The etherification of glycerol with propylene over acidic heterogeneous catalysts, Amberlyst-15, S100, and S200 resins, produced mono-propyl glycerol ethers (MPGEs), 1,3-di- and 1,2-di-propyl glycerol ethers (DPGEs), and tri-propyl glycerol ether (TPGE).

A hydrogel for intra‐articular injection for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is formulated and comprehensively studied. After administration, the hydrogel induces a metabolic reprogramming of immunometabolism of macrophages to trigger fatty acid oxidation subsequently inducing polarization of anti‐inflammatory M2 macrophages. This results in

The glyceryl ethers in man and cow*
The glyceryl ethers were studied in lipids from human bone marrow, spleen, and milk; from yellow bone marrow and milk of cow; and from the yolk of hens' eggs. The highest concentrations were found in human red bone marrow and in human milk.

Photocatalytic C−H activation and C−C coupling of monohydric alcohols
Monohydric alcohols, such as methanol, ethanol, are useful chemical building blocks that can be facilely produced from various carbon resources. The direct conversion of alcohols into high-value-added chemicals, in particular diols, is attractive but ...

Simultaneous utilization of calix[4]pyrrole‐ and crown ether‐based molecular recognition allows the construction of a high molecular weight alternating supramolecular polymer. This heat processible polymer can be used as a durable and reusable adhesive on glass and steel with temperature‐enhanced adhesion strength without the need for a solvent ...
