Electrophotocatalytic C-H Functionalization of Ethers with High Regioselectivity.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2020
The highly regioselective electrophotocatalytic C-H functionalization of ethers is described. These reactions are catalyzed by a trisaminocyclopropenium (TAC) ion in a mild electrochemical potential with visible light irradiation.

Organophosphate Ester Flame Retardants: Are They a Regrettable Substitution for Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers?

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology Letters, 2019
As the use of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and the entire class of organohalogen flame retardants, is declining, the use of organophosphate esters flame retardants (OPFRs) is increasing.

Oxalic Diamides and tert-Butoxide: Two Types of Ligands Enabling Practical Access to Alkyl Aryl Ethers via Cu-Catalyzed Coupling Reaction.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2019
A robust and practical protocol for preparing alkyl aryl ethers has been developed, which relies on using two types of ligands to promote Cu-catalyzed alkoxylation of (hetero)aryl halides.

Hydrogen spillover assisted by oxygenate molecules over nonreducible oxides

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Spontaneous migration of H-atoms from metal particles to a nonreducible oxide support is generally limited by thermodynamics. Here, small oxygenate molecules are found to act as effective H-carriers to promote this process and lead to much improved ...

Ethers Illume Sodium‐Based Battery Chemistry: Uniqueness, Surprise, and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, 2018
Sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) have the potential to be practically applied in large‐scale energy storage markets. The rapid progress of SIBs research is primarily focused on electrodes, while electrolytes attract less attention.

Enol Ethers Are Effective Monomers for Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization: Synthesis of Degradable and Depolymerizable Poly(2,3-dihydrofuran).

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2019
Enol ethers are widely used as quenching reagents for Grubbs catalysts. However, we report the surprisingly effective ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of cyclic enol ethers, because the resulting electron-rich ruthenium alkylidene complex ...
