Long-Term Stability of Ethyl Glucuronide in Hair: A 10-Year Retrospective Analysis of 909 Samples by LC-MS/MS. [PDF]
EtG hair analysis has a standard method for detecting alcohol abuse. In this study, we assessed the long‐term stability of EtG in hair stored up to 10 years. A total of 909 samples originally analyzed between 2013 and 2022 were re‐tested in 2023 by LC‐MS/MS.

Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG): Better than Breathalyser or Self-Reports to Detect Covert Short-Term Relapses into Drinking [PDF]
The assessment of relapses is widely used as an outcome measure of alcohol dependence treatment. However, the methods of assessing relapses range from questionnaires to biological markers of alcohol for different time spans. The aim of this study was to compare the relapse rates of weekend home stays during long-term alcohol dependence treatment ...

Decline of phosphatidylethanol (B-PEth) during abstinence in patients with alcohol use disorder undergoing withdrawal treatment, and the correlation of B-PEth with self-reported alcohol intake. [PDF]
Abstract Background and aim Accurately estimating alcohol consumption is crucial for clinical decision‐making and monitoring treatment outcomes. Phosphatidylethanol in blood (B‐PEth), a direct alcohol biomarker, is currently the most reliable indicator of alcohol intake, with a detection window of several weeks; however, the factors influencing the ...

In this study, a liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) method was developed to detect ethyl glucuronide (EtG), which is a biomarker for monitoring alcohol consumption, and naltrexone (NTX), 6β-naltrexol (6βNTX), chlordiazepoxide (CDP),

Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) is a minor, non-oxidative ethanol metabolite detectable in several matrices for specific periods of time. In recent years, quantification of EtG in hair has been established as the most reliable biomarker for long-term alcohol ...

Alcohol consumption is associated with oxidative stress and an increased risk of carcinoma of the upper aero-digestive tract (UADT). Recently, it has been found that some microorganisms in the human oral cavity may locally metabolize ethanol, forming ...

Validation of blood phosphatidylethanol as an alcohol consumption biomarker in patients with alcohol use disorder and liver disease at a liver transplant center. [PDF]
Phosphatidylethanol (PEth) outperformed traditional markers and accurately detected abstinence and heavy drinking in liver disease and AUD populations. Stepwise cutoffs were identified for drinking stratification, while hematocrit correction altered PEth levels but had minimal impact on detection thresholds.

Introduction of sample tubes with sodium azide as a preservative for ethyl glucuronide in urine. [PDF]
Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) is a direct alcohol marker, which is widely used for clinical and forensic applications, mainly for abstinence control. However, the instability of EtG in urine against bacterial degradation or the post-collectional synthesis of ...
