Electronic Structure and Normal Vibrations of the 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Ethyl Sulfate Ion Pair
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2011Electronic and structural properties of the ion pair 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethyl sulfate are studied using density functional methods. Three locally stable conformers of the ion pair complex are considered to analyze molecular interactions between its cation and anion.

Abstract Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) and ethyl sulfate (EtS) are mostly analyzed in urine; consequently, most kinetic studies are based on urine samples. In forensic cases, however, it may be necessary to determine these alcohol biomarkers in serum, whole blood, or capillary blood.
