Postharvest physiology of cut flowers

open access: yesOrnamental Horticulture, 2021
The longevity of cut flowers is limited by their ephemeral nature and by multiple stresses. Impairment in water uptake, depletion of stored carbohydrates, increases in both respiratory activity and ethylene production are signatures of flower senescence.

Ethylene seems required for the berry development and ripening in grape, a non-climacteric fruit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
While the grape has been classified as a non-climacteric fruit whose ripening is thought to be ethylene independent, we show here that a transient increase of endogenous ethylene production occurs just before veraison (i.e. inception of ripening).

Iron-catalyzed carboazidation of alkenes and alkynes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Carboazidation of alkenes and alkynes holds the promise to construct valuable, functionalized molecules. Here, the authors report a general and efficient iron-catalyzed carboazidation of both alkenes and alkynes enabled by t-butyl perbenzoate.

Structural insight into molecular mechanism of poly(ethylene terephthalate) degradation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Plastics, including poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), possess many desirable characteristics and thus are widely used in daily life. However, non-biodegradability, once thought to be an advantage offered by plastics, is causing major environmental ...

Assigning the Absolute Configurations of Chiral Primary Amines Based on Experimental and DFT-Calculated 19F Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
In this work, a novel method for assigning the absolute configuration of a chiral primary amine has been developed based on the experimental and DFT-calculated 19F NMR chemical shift differences of its derived two fluorinated amides by reacting with two ...

Tissue specific analysis reveals a differential organization and regulation of both ethylene biosynthesis and E8 during climacteric ripening of tomato [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Solanum lycopersicum or tomato is extensively studied with respect to the ethylene metabolism during climacteric ripening, focusing almost exclusively on fruit pericarp. In this work the ethylene biosynthesis pathway was examined in all major

Ab Initio Molecular Dynamics Study of Aqueous Solvation of Ethanol and Ethylene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The structure and dynamics of aqueous solvation of ethanol and ethylene are studied by DFT-based Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics. We did not find an enhancement of the structure of the hydrogen bonded network of hydrating water molecules.

Ethane/ethylene separation in a metal-organic framework with iron-peroxo sites

open access: yesScience, 2018
A preference for ethane Industrial production of ethylene requires its separation from ethane in a cryogenic process that consumes large amounts of energy. An alternative would be differential sorption in microporous materials.

A preliminary transcriptomic approach to elucidate post harvest ripening of plum fruit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aim of the present study was to dissect common and/or diverse mechanisms regulating plum (Prunus salicina) fruit ripening in genotypes characterized by different patterns of ethylene production. Fruit of an ethylenesuppressed cultivar ('Shiro') and a

Facile preparation of efficient Cu-SiO2 catalysts using a polyhydroxy molecular template to regulate surface copper species for dimethyl oxalate hydrogenation

open access: yesCatalysis Communications, 2023
β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was used to prepare remarkable and stable copper-based catalysts for hydrogenation of dimethyl oxalate (DMO) to ethylene glycol (EG). The DMO conversion (95.6% vs. 99.9%), EG selectivity (53.6% vs. 97.4%) and lifetime (25 h vs.
