Synthesis of Amylose−Polystyrene Inclusion Complexes by a Facile Preparation Route [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The formation of amylose−polystyrene inclusion complexes via a novel two-step approach is described. In the first-step, styrene was inserted inside the amylose helical cavity, followed by free radical polymerization in the second step.

Flexible Axial Shielding Strategy for Improving Ethylene (Co)polymerization with 8‑Cycloalkylnaphthyl α‑Diimine Catalysts

open access: yes, 2023
8-aryl or alkyl-naphthyl substituents are widely used as an effective axial shielding strategy for the suppression of chain transfer in late-transition metal-catalyzed ethylene (co)polymerization to yield high molecular weight polyethylene and copolymers.

Exciton Binding Energy of Phosphorescent Emitter Molecules in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Energy level alignment is key to efficient OLED design, yet determining LUMO energies remains challenging. A methodology based on field‐induced dissociation and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations is presented to extract LUMO energies of iridium‐based phosphorescent emitters from their exciton binding energy.

Free Radical Emulsion Polymerization of Ethylene

open access: yes, 2016
Free radical polymerization of ethylene in aqueous media was performed under mild conditions (T ethylene < 250 bar) using an anionic initiating (ammonium persulfate, APS) and stabilizing (sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS) system, yielding polyethylene latexes.

Near‐Infrared Light‐Driven Zn/Au Janus Micromotors for Multiplex SERS Detection of Anticancer Drugs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zn/Au Janus micromotors, propelled by thermophoretic effects under NIR light, function as active SERS platforms for single and multiplex detection of anticancer drugs. Their dynamic motion enhances analyte exchange at the Au interface, reducing saturation and competitive adsorption, thereby improving sensitivity and extending the linear detection range.

3D Printing Innovations in Polymeric Porous and Patterned Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymeric foams occupy a unique structural space between dense solids and open networks, where engineered void fraction governs mechanical compliance, thermal resistance, and mass transport. Additive manufacturing now enables precise spatial control over cellular architecture, unlocking designer foam structures across applications spanning crash ...

Backbone‐Controlled Ion‐Side Chain Accessibility in Conjugated Polymers for Organic Electrochemical Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Backbone modulation in glycolated conjugated polymers governs ion accessibility to side chains, strengthes anion adsorption, and suppresses back‐diffusion. As the number of thiophene units increases, structural reorganization, retention, and synaptic plasticity are enhanced, leading to improved neuromorphic performance in electrolyte‐gated organic ...

Nutzen und Grenzen der Anwendung kinetischer Modelle für die Reaktorberechnung, dargestellt am Beispiel des Hochdruck-Polyäthylen-Verfahrens

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1974
The design of a reactor for complex reactions by means of the generally adapted balances of mass, energy and momentum is only possible if the reaction mechanism can be described by a kinetic model.

A new iron catalyst for ethylene polymerization

open access: yes, 2015
The iron-based catalyst 2,6-bis[1-(4-bromo-2,6-dimethylphenylimino)ethyl]-pyridineiron(II) chloride, 1, has been successfully synthesized and characterized. Its catalytic activity was evaluated for the polymerization of ethylene at different temperatures

Spectroscopic Investigation of Polysulfide Redox Evolution in Catholyte Solutions for Potassium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Potassium–sulfur batteries are investigated using UV–vis spectroscopy to track the evolution of potassium polysulfide species at elevated temperature. The study reveals sulfur radical anions as key intermediates and shows how solvent composition and cell design influence polysulfide stability, redox behavior, and cycling performance, providing insights
