Dynamic replacement of histone H3 variants reprograms epigenetic marks in early mouse embryos. [PDF]
Upon fertilization, reprogramming of gene expression is required for embryo development. This step is marked by DNA demethylation and changes in histone variant composition.

Under normoxic conditions, the SUMOylated fraction of TFAP2A cannot interact with the Ku70/Ku80 complex, nor it can bind to chromatin. The unSUMOylated fraction pre‐occupies the chromatin of a subset of hypoxia‐induced genes together with the Ku70/Ku80 complex for basal euchromatin formation. Under hypoxic conditions, the SUMOylation equilibrium shifts

Chromatin associations in Arabidopsis interphase nuclei
The arrangement of chromatin within interphase nuclei seems to be caused by topological constraints and related to gene expression depending on tissue and developmental stage.

Satellite DNAs comprise the major component of the Triatoma rubrofasciata repeatome, highlighting their central role in genome composition and architecture. Satellite DNA families show recent amplification in heterochromatin and older, more divergent satellite DNAs located in euchromatin, indicating distinct evolutionary histories.

A new posttranslational modification is found of centromeric histone H3 variant Cse4. Cse4 is sumoylated by E3 ligases Siz1 and Siz2 and ubiquitinated by Slx5, a Sumo-targeted ubiquitin ligase.

Abstract Malaria is one of the deadliest infectious diseases in the world, annually responsible for over 400,000 deaths. It is caused by parasites of the genus Plasmodium, which undergo remarkable structural changes during their development within different cells across various hosts.

Mg 2+ -dependent ATPase activity in triatomine salivary glands (Heteroptera, Triatominae)
Mg2+-ATPase activity was detected in the three salivary glands of adult triatomines, males and females, of Triatoma infestans (Klug, 1834) and Panstrongylus megistus (Burmeister, 1835) (Heteroptera, Triatominae). A predominance of binucleated cells in D1

Sharp increase in macromolecular crowding induces abnormal chromatin compaction in the cell nucleus, suggesting its non-negligible impact on chromatin structure and function. However, the details of the crowding-induced chromatin compaction remain poorly

ABSTRACT Salt‐stress priming enhances the tolerance of plants against subsequent exposure to a similar stress. Priming‐induced transcriptomic reprogramming is mediated by multiple epigenetic mechanisms, the best known of which is histone modifications. However, not much is known about other epigenetic responses.

Mapping of the juxtacentromeric heterochromatin-euchromatin frontier of human chromosome 21 [PDF]
Euchromatin and heterochromatin are functional compartments of the genome. However, little is known about the structure and the precise location of the heterochromatin–euchromatin boundaries in higher eukaryotes. Constitutive heterochromatin in centromeric regions is associated with (1) specific histone methylation patterns, (2) high levels of DNA ...
