Generalized Euler Angles Viewed as Spherical Coordinates

open access: yesGeometry, Integrability and Quantization, 2017
Here we develop a specific factorization technique for rotations in $\mathbb{R}^3$ into five factors about two or three fixed axes. Although not always providing the most efficient solution, the method allows for avoiding gimbal lock singularities and decouples the dependence on the invariant axis ${\bf n}$ and the angle $\phi$ of the compound rotation.

Petrographic and crystallographic study of silicate minerals in lunar rocks [PDF]

open access: yes
Optical U-stage measurements, chemical microprobe data, and X-ray procession photographs of a bytownite twin group from rock 12032,44 are compared. Sharp but weak b and no c-reflections were observed for this An89 bytownite indicating a partly disordered

Sound‐Based Assembly of Magnetically Actuated Soft Robots Toward Enhanced Release of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Magnetic soft robots offer promise in biomedicine due to their wireless actuation and rapid response, but current fabrication methods are complex and have limited cellular compatibility. A new, contactless bioassembly strategy using hydrodynamic instabilities is introduced, enabling customizable, centimeter‐scale robots.

Patient‐Mounted Neuro Optical Coherence Tomography for Targeted Minimally Invasive Micro‐Resolution Volumetric Imaging in Brain In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Herein, a patient‐mounted neuro optical coherence tomography system that integrates a 5 degrees‐of‐freedom skull‐mounted robot (Skullbot) with a 0.6 mm neuroendoscope for targeted, minimally invasive deep brain imaging, is developed. The system offers high‐resolution imaging with precise deployment, demonstrated through successful tumor imaging in a ...

Advanced quaternion forward kinematics algorithm including overview of different methods for robot kinematics [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2014
Formulation of proper and efficient algorithms for robot kinematics is essential for the analysis and design of serial manipulators. Kinematic modeling of manipulators is most often performed in Cartesian space.

Application of Navier-Stokes analysis to stall flutter [PDF]

open access: yes
A solution procedure was developed to investigate the two-dimensional, one- or two-dimensional flutter characteristics of arbitrary airfoils. This procedure requires a simultaneous integration in time of the solid and fluid equations of motion. The fluid

A Steerable and Expandable Magnetic Aspiration Catheter for Enhanced Aspiration Thrombectomy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents a novel magnetic aspiration catheter (MAC) that can be both actively steered and undergo distal‐end expansion via externally applied magnetic fields. The MAC facilitates precise branch selection and enhances clot engagement by improving endovascular navigation and aspiration efficiency. Phantom experiments validate its feasibility

Scalable High‐Force Zipping Electrostatic Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
An electrostatic actuator architecture is presented that combines high energy density with forces and strokes suited for wearable soft robotics. By folding patterned thin films into a scalable honeycomb of zipping units, performance becomes tunable through series–parallel design, achieving over 40 N and 28 J/kg.

SCP‐Pose: Leveraging Structural Consistency Prior Knowledge for Real‐Time Category‐Level 6D Pose Estimation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This paper presents a high‐speed object pose estimation method that deconstructs objects into geometric components. Inspired by human cognitive generalization, it detects these primitives and infers the 6D pose from their stable spatial configuration.
