Chloride-secreting Cells in the Gills of European Eels [PDF]
IN a recent communication Parry, Holliday and Blaxter1 reopened the question of the chloride-secreting cells of the gills of fish and, in agreement with Bevelander's2 arguments, they brought new indirect evidence against Keys and Willmer's theory3 and Copeland's4 conclusions.

River‐Scale Evaluation of a Floating LED Light Array for Behavioral Guidance of American Eel
ABSTRACT Exploiting the sensory physiology of migratory fishes to guide them away from hazards like hydroelectric turbines is of interest to regulatory agencies and hydropower operators to achieve conservation and management goals. Here we describe a river‐scale experiment where out‐migrating adult American eel (Anguilla rostrata) were tracked ...

Characterization of a novel picornavirus isolate from a diseased European eel (Anguilla anguilla) [PDF]
A novel picornavirus was isolated from specimens of a diseased European eel (Anguilla anguilla). This virus induced a cytopathic effect in eel embryonic kidney cells and high mortality in a controlled transmission study using elvers.

Examining the Role of Economic Complexity and Climate Readiness in the Climate‐Fishing Nexus
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the climate‐fisheries association in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations from 1999 to 2022. A key objective is to explore the role of both the economic complexity index (ECI) and the climate readiness factor (READ) in the climate‐fishing nexus.

This study explores the covalent functionalization of Ti3C2Tx using 5,5′‐bis(triisopropoxysilyl)‐2,2′‐bipyridine in different solvents, revealing that only m‐xylene enables effective covalent bonding, ensuring structural stability and preventing layer swelling.

Are Chemicals a Useful Tool for Glass Eel Traceability?
According to European reports, the population of Anguilla anguilla has declined to unsafe biological limits in most areas and current fisheries are unsustainable. Indeed, the European eel has been listed as a critically endangered species since the 1970s

Liquid‐Processed 2D Aromatic Amorphous Carbon: Defect Engineering and Universal Transport Scaling
Liquid‐processed graphene oxide (GO) thin films undergo a controllable crystalline–to–amorphous transition driven by thermal quenching. By kinetically tuning oxygen‐driven defect formation during reduction, scalable 2D aromatic amorphous carbon phases are stabilized, directly linking nanoscale disorder and defect topology to electronic transport ...

Rounded Monodisperse Fluorescent Nanodiamonds
Nanodiamond (ND) shape control using rapid molten‐nitrate etching is studied as a scale‐up method for monodispersed rounded particles. Optimal etching condition (567°C for 6 min) yields NDs with atomically stepped surfaces and reduced sp2 content. Compared to angular control, rounded NDs exhibit an increased proportion of luminescent particles (66% vs.

Temperature modulates the vitellogenesis progression in European eel [PDF]
[EN] Wild female European eels were matured with CPE (carp pituitary extract) under three thermal regimes, two of which were variable (T10–15 and T15–18, moving from 10 to 15 °C and from 15 to 18 °C, respectively) and one constant, at 18 °C (T18 ...
