Genetic impact of the reproduction dynamics in the European flat oyster Ostrea edulis

open access: yes, 2004
The European flat oyster (Ostrea edulis L.) is a marine bivalve whose natural geographical distribution ranges along the European Atlantic coast from Norway to Morocco, in addition to the Mediterranean and Black Sea. The latest results obtained on the genetic differentiation between these populations have led us to persue studies at a finer scale, in ...

Establishment of a genetic map in the European flat oyster Ostrea edulis L.

open access: yes, 2006
The flat oyster Ostrea edulis is the species endemic from European coasts, Atlantic and Mediterranean. It has been exploited since Roman times in Europe. But its production decreased from around 20000 tons in the 1950ies to 1500 tons nowadays because of two successive diseases due to the intracellular parasites Marteilia refringens and Bonamia ostreae.

A preliminary genetic linkage map for the European flat oyster Ostrea eduli

open access: yes, 2006
The European flat oyster, Ostrea edulis, occurs naturally from Norway to Morocco in the North-Eastern Atlantic and throughout the Mediterranean. The oyster has been a harvested species for at least 6000 years. However, it successively suffered from over harvesting and then from two protozoan diseases during the 1960s and its production has drastically ...
