Quassinoids from Eurycoma longifolia
Journal of Natural Products, 2009Ten new structurally diverse quassinoids (1-10) and 14 known compounds were isolated from the stems of Eurycoma longifolia. The new compounds were two eurycomanone-type C(20) quassinoids (1, 2), one klaineanone-type C(20) quassinoid (3), one C(19) quassinoid (4) with a 1,2-seco-1-nor-6(5-->10)-abeo-picrasan-2,5-olide skeleton, and six eurycomalactone ...

The Toxicity of Some Quassinoids from Eurycoma longifolia
Planta Medica, 2002The 50 % aqueous ethanol extract of Eurycoma longifolia Jack (Simaroubaceace) roots was partitioned with diethyl ether, n-butanol and then water. Acute toxicity studies of each fraction on mice administered orally and brine shrimps revealed that the n-butanol fraction was the most toxic.

Antiinflammatory and analgesic effects of Eurycoma longifolia extracts
Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2016Eurycoma longifolia is one of the most popular herbal medicines in Southeast Asia. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of the methanolic extract of E. longifolia roots (TA) in vivo and to investigate the underlying mechanisms.

Eurycomalin A, a New Dimeric Dihydrobenzofuran from Eurycoma longifolia
HETEROCYCLES, 2004One new dimeric 2-isopropenyl-2, 3-dihydrobenzofuran, eurycomalin A (1), was characterized from the methanol extract of the root of Eurycoma longifolia by the 1D and 2D spectral and chemical transformation studies. The reported structure of eurycomalide A (2) was revised through detail 2D spectral analyses.

Quassinoids from Eurycoma longifolia as plant growth inhibitors
Phytochemistry, 2001Seven quassinoids including a new 12-epi-11-dehydroklaineanone were isolated from the leaves of Eurycoma longifolia (Simaroubaceae) as plant growth inhibitors or related compounds. The strongest activity was found in 14,15beta-dihydroxyklaineanone.

New antiulcer quassinoids from Eurycoma longifolia
European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1991Abstract A bioassay study of Pasak bumi (Eurycoma longifolia) led to the isolation of four quassinoids, pasakbumin-A (1), -B (2), -C (4), and -D (7). Both pasakbumin-A (= eurycomanone) 1 and pasakbumin-B 2 exhibited potent antiulcer activity. This prompted us to test some modified quassinoids to reveal that ailanthone (8), the main quassinoid of ...

In Vitro Shoot Organogenesis of Eurycoma longifolia
The Planter, 2002Direct shoot organogenesis could be induced from the shoots, nodes and cotyledon tissues of the in vitro Eurycoma longifolia seedlings. Multiple shoots could be formed from shoot and node explants that were cultured in MS medium + 1.50 mg/L BAP + 0.25 mg/L NAA. While cotyledon tissues could produce multiple shoots when cultured in MS medium + 0.75 mg/L
