6α-Hydroxyeurycomalactone, a quassinoid from Eurycoma longifolia

Phytochemistry, 1992
Abstract The structure of 6α-hydroxyeurycomalactone, a new C19 quassinoid, isolated from the roots of Eurycoma longifolia has been established from spectral and by single crystal X-ray analysis; eurycomalactone was also isolated. The cytotoxic activity of some quassinoids from this plant is not mediated through DNA cleaving properties.

Highly oxygenated quassinoids from Eurycoma longifolia

Phytochemistry, 1993
Abstract Two novel C 19 -skeleton quassinoids, one with a lactonic linkage at C-7 and another with a lactonic linkage at C-12, and seven novel highly oxygenated quassinoids with a C 20 -skeleton were isolated from the leaves of Eurycoma longifolia .

A quassinoid glycoside from the roots of Eurycoma longifolia

Phytochemistry, 1989
Abstract A new quassinoid glycoside, eurycomanol-2-O-β- d -glycopyranoside, and eurycomanol have been isolated as antimalarial components of Eurycoma longifolia.

New Quassinoids from the Roots of Eurycoma longifolia

Chemistry Letters, 1990
Abstract A new C19-skeleton quassinoid, named longilactone and three new quassinoids, 13,21-dihydroeurycomanone, 13β,21-dihydroxyeurycomanone and 14,15β-dihydroxyklaineanone were isolated from the roots of Eurycoma longifolia and their structures were established by the spectral evidences.

Bioavailability and Pharmacokinetic Studies of Eurycomanone fromEurycoma longifolia

Planta Medica, 2005
A validated HPLC analysis of eurycomanone (1), a bioactive quassinoid, in rat plasma following oral and intravenous administration of Eurycoma longifolia Jack extract was developed for pharmacokinetic and bioavailability studies. Relatively high plasma eurycomanone concentrations were detected after an intravenous injection of 10 mg/kg extract F2 ...

Evaluation of the potency activity of aphrodisiac in Eurycoma longifolia Jack

Phytotherapy Research, 2001
AbstractThe butanol, methanol, water and chloroform extracts of the roots of Eurycoma longifolia Jack were studied using various tests of potency of treated male rats. The results showed that E. longifolia produced a dose‐dependent, recurrent and significant increase in the episodes of penile reflexes as evidenced by increases in quick flips, long ...

Four new quassinoids from the roots of Eurycoma longifolia Jack

Fitoterapia, 2014
Seven compounds were isolated from the roots of Eurycoma longifolia, and characterized by comprehensive analysis of 1D and 2D NMR experiments along with single crystal X-ray diffraction. Among them, four new quassinoids were identified and three of them were diastereomers for each other.

Induction of apoptosis by Eurycoma longifolia jack extracts.

Anticancer research, 2005
Extracts of the plant Eurycoma longifolia have been shown to possess cytotoxic, antimalarial, anti-ulcer, antipyretic and plant growth inhibition activities. The present study investigated the effects of extracts and their chromatographic fractions from the root of E. longifolia on the growth of a human breast cancer cell line, MCF-7.
