Age‐related and Individual Variation in Male Piezodorus hybneri (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) Pheromones

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Males of the Piezodorus hybneri stink bug produce a pheromone comprising β‐sesquiphellandrene (Sesq), (R)‐15‐hexadecanolide (R15), and methyl (Z)‐8‐hexadecenoate (Z8). We collected airborne volatiles from individual P. hybneri males and analyzed them by GC‐MS. Daily analysis from 1 to 16 days after adult emergence showed that pheromone emission started

Vertical Distribution of Euschistus heros in the Leaf Canopy of Soybean Plants

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science, 2021
The occurrence of phytophagous stink bugs in soybeans can result in production losses, if this pest is not properly controlled. Our objective was to study the vertical distribution (intra-plant) of nymphs and adults of Euschistus heros (Fabricius, 1798) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) in the leaf canopy of soybean plants, during the day.

Innovative Pest Management: Synthesis and Field Trials of Four Pheromones for Controlling Astylus variegatus (Coleoptera: Melyridae) in Soybean Crops

open access: yesEntomological Research, Volume 56, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Soybeans and corn are the primary agricultural commodities in Brazil, both of which are significantly impacted by various pests, leading to substantial crop losses. Notably, coleopteran and lepidopteran pests pose considerable challenges, as they have developed resistance to increasingly toxic chemical controls.

A new piece in the repeatome puzzle of Triatominae bugs: The analysis of Triatoma rubrofasciata reveals the role of satellite DNAs in the karyotypic evolution of distinct lineages

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 34, Issue 6, Page 917-928, December 2025.
Satellite DNAs comprise the major component of the Triatoma rubrofasciata repeatome, highlighting their central role in genome composition and architecture. Satellite DNA families show recent amplification in heterochromatin and older, more divergent satellite DNAs located in euchromatin, indicating distinct evolutionary histories.
