Jussaí (Euterpe edulis): a review

open access: yesFood Science and Technology, 2022
Abstract The fruit of the jussara palm (Euterpe edulis M.) from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest is rich in anthocyanins, mainly 3-O-glucoside cyanidin and 3-O-rutinoside cyanidin, with high antioxidant capacity which can prevent different types of diseases. The aim of this review addresses aspects of the fruit, proximate composition, bioactive compounds,

Phytochemical profile of genotypes of Euterpe edulis Martius – Juçara palm fruits

Food Research International, 2019
Juçara fruit (Euterpe edulis) has received attention due to its similarities to Euterpe oleracea (Açaí). The aim of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxicity, bioactive compounds, antioxidant capacities and chemopreventive activities of the fruit pulps of six populations of E. edulis (J1-J6) and one population of E.

Somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration in embryo cultures of Euterpe edulis mart. (palmae)

Plant Cell Reports, 1988
The induction of somatic embryogenesis in embryo cultures of Euterpe edulis is described. The basal medium was composed of LS salts and Morel & Wetmore vitamins. Activated charcoal was added to prevent explant oxidation. 2,4-D higher than 50 mg/l was necessary for inducing embryogenesis which occurs 45-180 days after the start of cultures.

Detection of dehydrin-like proteins in embryos and endosperm of mature Euterpe edulis seeds

Protoplasma, 2007
Euterpe edulis Martius, a tropical palm species characterized as highly recalcitrant, accumulated dehydrin proteins in both the endosperm and the embryo of the mature seed, as detected by Western blot analysis and immunogold electron microscopy. Three major bands at molecular masses of approximately 16, 18, and 24 kDa were identified in both samples ...

Somatic Embryogenesis in Tissue Cultures of Euterpe Edulis Mart. (Palmae)

1991
Somatic embryogenesis and further development of embryos to plantlets was studied using: young and mature embryos excised from seeds and inflorescences in 10 different stages until emergence. The influence of several factors such as mineral salts, nitrogen source, growth regulators, sucrose etc. were studied.
