Cortical pain responses in human infants [PDF]
Despite the recent increase in our understanding of the development of pain processing, it is still not known whether premature infants are capable of processing pain at a cortical level.

Cortical Somatostatin Neurons Regulate Seizure Susceptibility via MINAR1/Gαs–cAMP Signaling
Our study identifies MINAR1 as a novel regulator of cortical interneuron excitability and seizure susceptibility. MINAR1 is preferentially expressed in SST+ interneurons. Genetic ablation of MINAR1 leads to seizure hypersensitivity, reduced SST+ neuron excitability, and impaired Gαs–cAMP signaling, disrupting the E/I balance.

Noninvasive vagus nerve stimulation alters neural response and physiological autonomic tone to noxious thermal challenge. [PDF]
The mechanisms by which noninvasive vagal nerve stimulation (nVNS) affect central and peripheral neural circuits that subserve pain and autonomic physiology are not clear, and thus remain an area of intense investigation.

Multimodal Layer‐Crossing Interrogation of Brain Circuits Enabled by Microfluidic Axialtrodes
The study introduces a flexible microfluidic axialtrode that integrates optical, electrical, and chemical modalities within a single polymer fiber. By redistributing electrodes and fluidic channels along the fiber axis via angled cleaving, it enables simultaneous optogenetic stimulation, electrophysiological recording, and drug delivery across brain ...

Disrupted neurovascular coupling contributes to ovarian dysfunction in polycystic ovary syndrome. Using near‑infrared II long‑wavelength imaging, this study visualizes how electroacupuncture dynamically regulates ovarian blood vessels in vivo. Immediate and cumulative stimulation elicit distinct vascular responses via a Netrin‐1 dependent mechanism ...

High frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex modulates sensorimotor cortex function in the transition to sustained muscle pain [PDF]
Based on reciprocal connections between the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and basal-ganglia regions associated with sensorimotor cortical excitability, it was hypothesized that repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) of the left ...
