EL BORO Y EL MUNDO ARN

open access: yesRevista de Química, 2019
Además de sus usos comerciales, los minerales de boro han sido de interés para los investigadores que buscan encontrar una explicación a como se originó la vida en la Tierra.

Dynamically Driven Evolution of the Interstellar Medium in M51 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Massive star formation occurs in giant molecular clouds (GMCs); an understanding of the evolution of GMCs is a prerequisite to develop theories of star formation and galaxy evolution. We report the highest-fidelity observations of the grand-design spiral

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Gene expression atlas of the Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata)

open access: yesScientific Data
The Colorado potato beetle (CPB) is a major pest of potato crops, known for its remarkable ability to develop resistance to more than 50 pesticides. For decades, CPB has served as a model species for studying insecticide resistance, insect physiology ...

Supernova Feedback in Molecular Clouds: Global Evolution and Dynamics

open access: yes, 2016
We use magnetohydrodynamical simulations of converging warm neutral medium flows to analyse the formation and global evolution of magnetised and turbulent molecular clouds subject to supernova feedback from massive stars.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

The evolution of the immune system of bees is defined by conservation, expansions, and losses

open access: yesBMC Biology
Background Insect pollinators, such as bees, provide essential ecosystem services yet face increasing environmental challenges, including pathogens, which can negatively impact host fitness.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
