The membrane receptors that appeared before their ligand: The different proposed scenarios.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
The interactions between membrane receptors and their endogenous ligands are key interactions in organisms. Recently, we have shown that a high number of genes encoding human receptors appeared at the same moment as their ligand in the animal tree of ...

Mild Velocity Dispersion Evolution of Spheroid-like Massive Galaxies since z~2

open access: yes, 2009
Making use of public spectra from Cimatti et al (2008), we measure for the first time the velocity dispersion of spheroid-like massive (M_star ~ 10^11 M_sun) galaxies at z ~ 1.6.

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

A resilience evolution model of urban lifeline systems during operation based on performance state transitions

open access: yesJournal of Safety Science and Resilience
To better understand the resilience evolution dynamics of urban lifeline systems over extended operational periods, this study introduces a model inspired by the susceptible-infected-recovered (SIR) model, which is traditionally used to simulate ...

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Evolutionary Models of Super-Earths and Mini-Neptunes Incorporating Cooling and Mass Loss

open access: yes, 2015
We construct models of the structural evolution of super-Earth- and mini-Neptune-type exoplanets with hydrogen-helium envelopes, incorporating radiative cooling and XUV-driven mass loss.

Understanding bio‐based polymers: A study of origins, properties, biodegradation and their impact on health and the environment

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of bio‐based polymer sources, their unique functional properties and their environmental impact, and addresses their role as sustainable alternatives. It discusses end‐of‐life options, including composting and anaerobic digestion for renewable energy.

Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...

Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Satralizumab in a Pregnant NMOSD Patient With AQP4/MOG‐IgG Dual Seropositive: A Case Report

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD) is a chronic autoimmune neuroinflammatory disease, typically characterized by antibodies against aquaporin 4 (AQP4‐IgG) or myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG‐IgG). Simultaneous seropositivity for both antibodies in a single patient is exceedingly rare.
