The Effect of Social Rank on Reproductive Traits Depends on Rank Metric: Evidence From a Group‐Living Carnivore

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Group‐living animals form dominance hierarchies to mediate competition among members. The social rank of individuals determines their access to resources such as food and mates, as well as their exposure and opportunities to respond to social challenges.

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Technical Change and Industrial Dynamics as Evolutionary Processes [PDF]

open access: yes
This work prepared for B. Hall and N. Rosenberg (eds.) Handbook of Innovation, Elsevier (2010), lays out the basic premises of this research and review and integrate much of what has been learned on the processes of technological evolution, their main ...

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Toward mechanisms underlying the developmental hourglass: evolvability and phylotypic conservation

open access: yesEvoDevo
Understanding the general relationship between animal ontogeny and phylogeny remains a long-standing issue in evolutionary developmental biology. Historically, observation of these two phenomena, which involve increasing complexity, led to a series of ...

Does alternative food for predatory arthropods improve biological pest control? A meta-analysis

open access: yesBiological Control
The use of alternative food for arthropod predators in augmentative and conservation biological pest control has increased considerably during the last two decades. Dozens of studies on this topic have been published, showing mixed effects.

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.
