Evolutionary conservation of within-family biodiversity patterns
Little is known about the phylogenetic conservation of higher-level properties. Here, the authors analyse the species distributions of 14 lichen families, 9 insect families, and 9 bird families in the Cantabrian mountains and show phylogenetic ...

Perspective: Evolutionary Patterns in the Fossil Record [PDF]
The study of large-scale evolutionary patterns in the fossil record has benefited from a diversity of approaches, including analysis of taxonomic data, ecology, geography, and morphology. Although genealogy is an important component of macroevolution, recent visions of phylogenetic analysis as replacing rather than supplementing other approaches are ...

Analysis of pivotal-differential evolutionary patterns [PDF]
The numerical analysis of meiosis in hybrids between a wild allotetraploid and an autotetraploid of one of its putative diploid progenitors allows the identification of which genomes are pairing and also the verification of pivotal-differential evolution. This type of analysis should be applicable to all genera in which allopolyploid series exist.

Evolutionary conservation and enhanced basal immunity of the ZmNBS gene family in maize
The nucleotide-binding site (NBS) gene family is central to plant innate immunity. However, a comprehensive understanding of its evolutionary dynamics and functional diversity in maize, particularly within a pan-genomic context, remains limited.

ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Evolutionary assembly patterns of prokaryotic genomes [PDF]
Abstract Evolutionary innovation must occur in the context of some genomic background, which limits available evolutionary paths. For example, protein evolution by sequence substitution is constrained by epistasis between residues. In prokaryotes, evolutionary innovation frequently happens by macrogenomic events such as horizontal gene ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
