Evolutionary conservation and mutational spectrum of BMPR2 gene

Gene, 2006
A variety of mutations in the bone morphogenetic protein receptor type 2 (BMPR2) have been identified in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension. In this study, using our BMPR2 mutation database and BMPR-II protein sequences from eight distantly related species, we defined the relationship among evolutionary conservation, mutation frequency and ...

Dynamic Spectrum Access in Cognitive Radio Networks Using Deep Reinforcement Learning and Evolutionary Game

2018 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC), 2018
With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, the low utilization of spectrum resources and the high demand for spectrum have always been an urgent and paradoxical problem to be resolved.

[Evolutionary psychiatry applied to autism spectrum disorder].

Tijdschrift voor psychiatrie, 2023
Considering an evolutionary perspective, psychiatric conditions present us with a paradox. How can the high prevalence of those conditions be explained, given the importance of genetic factors in many of them? Evolutionary principles predict that traits with an adverse effect on reproduction undergo negative selection. To try to formulate an answer to ...

Evolutionary spectrum estimation by positivity constrained deconvolution

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1999
We present a deconvolution technique to obtain the evolutionary spectrum (ES) of nonstationary signals by deconvolving the blurring effects of the time-frequency distribution (TFD) kernel from bilinear TFDs. The resulting spectrum is non-negative and has desirable properties such as higher resolution and higher concentration in time frequency.

A multidimensional approach to evolutionary spectrum estimation

Proceedings of the 32nd Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003
Smoothing of the Wigner distribution introduces two-dimensional sequences which bring the theory of two-dimensional filter analysis and design to the one-dimensional time-varying spectrum estimation. In this study, the region of support of the two-dimensional filters associated with the commonly used periodogram, averaged periodograms, and Wigner ...

Location-oriented evolutionary games for spectrum sharing

2014 IEEE Global Communications Conference, 2014
Spectrum sharing between primary users (PUs) and secondary users (SUs) can be realized using economic approaches. In this paper, we propose a method for multiple PUs to share with multiple SUs different idle channels in overlapped licensed areas. Due to the fluctuations of supply and demand in different areas, the SUs are grouped according to their ...

Sonar spectrum recognition chip designed by evolutionary algorithm

IJCNN'99. International Joint Conference on Neural Networks. Proceedings (Cat. No.99CH36339), 2003
An evolutionary design methodology for sonar spectrum recognition chip is proposed and the prototype chip is developed. In the design, sonar spectrum data are transformed to truth-tables and the truth-tables are evolved to obtain generalization capability by using genetic algorithms.

Evolutionary Search for Energy-Efficient Distributed Cooperative Spectrum Sensing

2020 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC), 2020
This paper concerns the energy efficiencyoptimization for distributed cooperative spectrum sensing. In the considered distributed spectrum sensing system, each sensor measures the local test statistic for the target spectrum bands and these measurements will be combined together through a weighted consensus protocol.

Evolutionary Model for Synthetic Spectrum Compatible Accelerograms

2016
This paper proposes a numerical procedure for the generation of sets of synthetic acceleration time histories that result compatible with an assigned target design spectrum. The proposed formulation is able to take into account both the energy distribution in time and the contemporary variability of the frequency content.
