Search Techniques for Evolutionary Constrained Optimization
Solving Constrained Optimization Problems (COPs) has been an important research topic in the optimization, operation research, and computer science domains. Over the last few decades, evolutionary algorithms (EAs) have been widely adopted to solve such problems.

Link Prediction Using Evolutionary Neural Network Models
Link prediction aims to represent the dynamic networks’ relationships of the real world in a model for predicting future links or relationships. This model can help in understanding the evolution of interactions and relationships between network members.

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

A Review of Gait Optimization Based on Evolutionary Computation
Gait generation is very important as it directly affects the quality of locomotion of legged robots. As this is an optimization problem with constraints, it readily lends itself to Evolutionary Computation methods and solutions.

Interactive Evolutionary Algorithms for Image Enhancement and Creation [PDF]
Image enhancement and creation, particularly for aesthetic purposes, are tasks for which the use of interactive evolutionary algorithms would seem to be well suited.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Prospects for computational steering of evolutionary computation
Currently, evolutionary computation (EC) typically takes place in batch mode: algorithms are run autonomously, with the user providing little or no intervention or guidance. Although it is rarely possible to specify in advance, on the basis of EC theory,

Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Evolutionary approaches to robot path planning
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. The ultimate goal in robotics is to create machines which are more independent and rely less on humans to guide them in their operation.
