Ex Situ Conservation

2019
This chapter focuses on ex situ (off-site) conservation, which is the protection and management of biodiversity in artificial, human-built environments. Indeed, ex situ conservation allows wild-caught individuals to be maintained under close human supervision in facilities like zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, or arboretums.

Additive Manufacturing In Situ and Ex Situ Geometric Data Registration

Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering, 2022
Abstract Recently, the number and types of measurement devices that collect data that are used to monitor laser-based powder bed fusion of metals processes and inspect additive manufacturing metal parts have increased rapidly. Each measurement device generates data in a unique coordinate system and in a unique format.

Ex Situ Conservation

2017
This chapter looks into ex situ conservation. It acknowledges that in situ conservation techniques might be needed if a successful ex situ conservation programme, which is termed reintroduction, is achieved. The chapter explores the subdivisions of ex situ conservation: intensive or general captive breeding programmes and gene banks.

InGaAsP ex-situ characterization

Conference Proceedings. 14th Indium Phosphide and Related Materials Conference (Cat. No.02CH37307), 2003
An interlaboratory comparison has been undertaken of X-ray and photoluminescence measurements of InGaAsP on InP. Six 1 cm/sup 2/ specimens were measured, with nominal photoluminescence wavelengths of 1.1, 1.3 and 1.5 /spl mu/m (2 of each). Preliminary maps of the specimens by X-ray and photo luminescence showed relatively large degrees of nonuniformity.

‘Ex situ’ magnetic resonance volume imaging

Chemical Physics Letters, 2009
The portable NMR community has introduced advances that have allowed for a variety of studies. Imaging of static and moving objects has almost become standardized. The inherent static field gradients of portable systems have, however, limited such studies to imaging of slices perpendicular to the main gradient; full volume imaging in transportable ...

Velocity imaging by ex situ NMR

Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2005
A pulsed field gradient stimulated spin-echo NMR sequence is combined with imaging methods to spatially resolve velocity distributions and to measure 2D velocity maps ex situ. The implementation of these techniques in open sensors provides a powerful non-invasive tool to measure molecular displacement in a large number of applications inaccessible to ...

Ex Situ Ex Vivo Resection and Autotransplantation

2013
Cholangiocarcinoma represents a difficult cancer with poor prognosis. It is not a common disease, and may occur anywhere along the intrahepatic or extrahepatic biliary tree. Cholangiocarcinoma usually presents with painless jaundice, and this diagnosis should be considered in every case of obstructive jaundice.
