Variations in preservation of exceptional fossils within concretions
Concretions are an interesting mode of preservation that can occasionally yield fossils with soft tissues. To properly interpret these fossils, an understanding of their fossilization is required.

Exceptional preservation of Miocene pollen: plasmolysis captured in salt?
Exceptionally well-preserved Miocene pollen from the Bochnia salt mine of southern Poland is reported herein. The halite deposits within the salt mine belonging to Late Badenian (Miocene) marine evaporites originated in the Paratethys.

The ‘Orsten’—More Than a Cambrian Konservat-Lagerstätte Yielding Exceptional Preservation
In several areas of southern Sweden, limestone nodules, locally called Orsten occur within bituminous alum shales. Theseshales and nodules were deposited under dysoxic conditions at the bottom of what was most likely a shallow sea during the lateMiddle to Upper Cambrian (ca. 500 million years ago).

New artiopodan euarthropods from the Chengjiang fauna (Cambrian, Stage 3) at Malong, Yunnan, China [PDF]
The artiopodans, consisting of trilobites and their relatives, were a major euarthropod group in the Paleozoic. Since the first discovery of Naraoia from the Chengjiang fauna, a significant number of artiopodans have been subsequently found in China ...

Probability-based preservational variations within the early Cambrian Chengjiang biota (China) [PDF]
The Chengjiang biota (Yunnan Province, China) is a treasure trove of soft-bodied animal fossils from the earliest stages of the Cambrian explosion. The mechanisms contributing to its unique preservation, known as the Burgess Shale-type preservation, are ...

A three-dimensionally preserved lobopodian from the Herefordshire (Silurian) Lagerstätte, UK [PDF]
The Herefordshire (Silurian) Lagerstätte (approx. 430 Myr BP) has yielded, among many exceptionally preserved invertebrates, a wide range of new genera belonging to crown-group Panarthropoda.

Revision of the mollisoniid chelicerate(?) Thelxiope, with a new species from the middle Cambrian Wheeler Formation of Utah [PDF]
The recent re-interpretation of the Lower Palaeozoic euarthropod group Mollisonia as belonging to Chelicerata has triggered a renewed interest for the poorly known family Mollisoniidae.

EXCEPTIONAL PRESERVATION AND THE FOSSIL RECORD OF TETRAPOD INTEGUMENT [PDF]
The fossil record of exceptionally preserved soft tissues in Konservat-Lagerstätten provides rare yet significant insight into past behaviours and ecologies. Such deposits are known to occur in bursts rather than evenly through time, but reasons for this pattern and implications for the origins of novel structures remain unclear.

Ophiuroids, also known as brittle stars, are an important component of modern marine benthos, yet their fossil record is still poorly understood. Here, we describe new finds of ophiuroids from the upper Sinemurian (Lower Jurassic) of Asturias, north-west
