Study of factors affecting shale gas adsorption by simplified local density-Peng–Robinson method
Shale gas has become an important source of natural gas, and a significant portion of gas in the reservoir exists in an adsorbed state. Thus, knowledge of gas adsorption behavior is important to estimate original gas in place and shale gas production. In

Long-term settlement of tunnel caused by shield tunneling in peaty soil
In order to study the long-term settlement of tunnel caused by shield tunneling in peaty soil, the surrounding soil of tunnel is regarded as continuum, homogeneous and isotropic saturated viscoelastic medium.

Preconditioning and triggering of offshore slope failures and turbidity currents revealed by most detailed monitoring yet at a fjord-head delta [PDF]
Rivers and turbidity currents are the two most important sediment transport processes by volume on Earth. Various hypotheses have been proposed for triggering of turbidity currents offshore from river mouths, including direct plunging of river discharge,

Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Undrained Pore Pressure Development on Cohesive Soil in Triaxial Cyclic Loading
Cohesive soils subjected to cyclic loading in undrained conditions respond with pore pressure generation and plastic strain accumulation. The article focus on the pore pressure development of soils tested in isotropic and anisotropic consolidation ...

Liquefaction of Highly Saturated Sand Layer under Oscillating Water Pressure [PDF]
In this paper the vertical distribution of pore water pressure in the highly saturated sand layer under the oscillating water pressure are treated theoretically and experimentally. By the experiments it is shown that the water pressure acting on the sand

Effect of High Excess Pore Pressure on Strength Parameters of Organic Soil
ABSTRACT The current method of determining the shear strength parameter ϕ', based on the inclination of the Kf-line (p-q plot), even though widely used, can lead to invalid results if the limitation of the testing and computing procedures are not acknowledged.

ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Does confining the hard-sphere fluid between hard walls change its average properties?
We use grand canonical transition-matrix Monte Carlo and discontinuous molecular dynamics simulations to generate precise thermodynamic and kinetic data for the equilibrium hard-sphere fluid confined between smooth hard walls. These simulations show that
