The Provenance of Silver in the Viking‐Age Hoard From Bedale, North Yorkshire

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The acquisition of silver was a key motive propelling the Viking expansion out of Scandinavia; identifying the sources of Viking silver during the early part of the Viking Age can provide critical insights into the relative significance of western European and eastern, Islamic wealth in the Viking expansion.

Concentration, temperature, and density in a hydrogen-air flame by excimer-induced Raman scattering [PDF]

open access: yes
Single-pulse, vibrational Raman scattering (VRS) is an attractive laser diagnostic for the study of supersonic hydrogen-air combustion. The VRS technique gives a complete thermodynamic description of the gas mixture at a point in the reacting flow ...

Towards Low Cost Coupling Structures for Short-Distance Optical Interconnections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The performance of short distance optical interconnections in general relies very strongly on coupling structures, since they will determine the overall efficiency of the system to a large extent.

cGAS–STING Pathway Activation Enhances Antitumor Effect of Talaporfin Photodynamic Therapy Through ROS Production

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the role of STING in photodynamic therapy (PDT) using talaporfin sodium. STING knockout reduced ROS generation and therapeutic efficacy, while combining a STING agonist with PDT enhanced antitumor effects. These findings suggest that STING regulates ROS homeostasis and can potentiate PDT outcomes.

Experimental Characterization of a New Piezoelectric Slit Valve and REMPI Spectroscopy of Cold, Chiral Indanol Molecules

open access: yes, 2019
There is a constant need for new and better methods to identify, characterize and separate different substances. Especially important are chiral molecules, since they play a crucial role in medical research and drug development.

Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery: Is It Here to Stay?

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The advent of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) has expanded the treatment options available for glaucoma by providing options for reducing intraocular pressure without the serious complication profile associated with incisional glaucoma surgery.

Three Spodumene Reference Materials for Oxygen Isotope Measurement by Ion Microprobe

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Three spodumene reference materials were developed for SIMS oxygen isotope measurement. All three materials are homogeneous in oxygen isotopes. Crystal orientation has no effect on instrumental mass fractionation. This study reports on the development of three spodumene reference materials referred to as Curtin University (CU) Tri‐1, Kun‐A‐1
