The Role of executive function in children\u27s source monitoring with varying retrieval strategies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Previous research on the relationship between executive function and source monitoring in young children has been inconclusive, with studies finding conflicting results about whether working memory and inhibitory control are related to source-monitoring ...

Depression, anxiety, and within-person variability in adults aged 18 to 85 years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Mild depression and anxiety were investigated in relation to measures of within-person (WP) variability and mean RT from psychomotor, executive function, visual search, and word recognition tasks in a continuous age range (18 to 85 years, M = 50.33, SD =

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Impaired executive function in male MDMA ("ecsatsy") users. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Rationale: Long-term users of ecstasy have shown impaired performance on a multitude of cognitive abilities (most notably memory, attention, executive function). Research into the pattern of MDMA effects on executive functions remains fragmented, however.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
