The exergetic efficiency of MSF process and the conditions of desalination by waste heat

Desalination, 1983
Abstract The exergy losses and thermodynamic efficiency of MSF plant with brine recirculation are discussed by means of temperature difference functions proposed by the author. In a MSF plant, the irreversible losses are found mainly in irreversible heat-transfer and flash evaporation processes.

Exergetic efficiency of a PEM electrolyser at various operating temperatures and pressures

International Journal of Exergy, 2004
This paper presents a comprehensive exergy analysis on a large scale 12,900kW PEM electrolyser at various operating temperatures and pressures. Calculations of physical exergy, mass flow rates and exergetic efficiency are performed at temperatures (T/To) and pressures (P/Po) ranging from 1 to 1.4 and 1 to 10, respectively.

Exergetic comparison of efficiency indicators for combined heat and power (CHP)

Energy, 2007
Legislative regulations in favor of combined heat and power (CHP) production have been implemented in many countries. Although these regulations put different emphasis on power production vs. process heat production, they are based on energy quantities and not on exergy.

Calculations of Energetic and Exergetic Efficiency of Hot Water Systems

2016

Exergetic Efficiency of Reverse Osmosis Desalination Systems: Definitions and Discussions

Journal of Energy Resources Technology, Part A: Sustainable and Renewable Energy
Abstract Reverse osmosis (RO) desalination is the dominant desalination technology worldwide. The exergetic efficiency—which is recognized as a true measure from a thermodynamic viewpoint—of RO systems has been addressed by many researchers, but the inconsistencies in existing definitions prevent not only objective evaluation of the ...

The Use of Exergetic Efficiency Rate of Change to Evaluate Fuel Cell Performance

ECS Transactions, 2010
Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that convert the chemical energy of a chemical reaction directly into electrical energy and heat. The fuel cell is the most efficient means to convert chemical energy to electrical energy. There will always be chemical energy from solar on this planet either from stored energy of coal and petroleum or real time ...
