Performance comparison of pressure swing adsorption and amine‐based absorption for synthesis gas purification

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Comparison of PSA and amine‐based absorption for syngas purification shows that PSA offers lower energy intensity, global warming potential, and minimum selling price, making it a more sustainable option. However, absorption achieves higher syngas purity. A GREENSCOPE‐based multi‐criteria assessment guides optimal process selection.

Energy and Exergy Analyses of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell-Gas Turbine-Organic Rankine Cycle Power Plant with Liquefied Natural Gas as Heat Sink

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
An exergy analysis of a novel integrated power system is represented in this study. A Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC), which has been assisted with a Gas Turbine (GT) and Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) by employing liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a heat sink in

Exergy Efficiency Definitions for Manufacturing Processes

open access: yes, 2011
The original application of thermodynamic metrics for manufacturing processes has been under development throughout the last decade. The metrics are based on the second law of thermodynamics. Therefore, the exergy value of both input and output streams is used to quantify them.

Analysis of the Behaviour of Biofuel-Fired Gas Turbine Power Plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The utilisation of biofuels in gas turbines is a promising alternative to fossil fuels for power generation. It would lead to significant reduction of CO2 emissions using an existing combustion technology, although significant changes seem to be needed

On the analogy between the evolution of thermodynamicand bibliometric systems: a breakthrough or justa bubble? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents an in depth study of an interesting analogy, recently proposed by Prathap (Scientometrics 87(3):515-524, 2011a), between the evolution of thermodynamic and bibliometric systems.

An estimation of different minimum exergy return ratios required for society [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This article shows that as technical change enhances the conversion efficiency of primary-to-final and final-to-useful exergy processes, the minimum exergy return ratios (ExRR) required for society decreases, irrespective of the boundary under ...
