Exocrine Pancreatic Function in the Elderly
Gerontology, 2009We studied pancreatic bicarbonate and enzyme output in response to a continuous intravenous infusion of secretin, 1 CU/kg·h, and cerulein, 100 ng/kg·h, in 25 elderly subjects and in 30 young controls. Almost all elderly persons had pancreatic outputs within the range of controls.

Influence of the Thyroid on Exocrine Pancreatic Function
Gastroenterology, 1991Exocrine pancreatic function was studied in 15 patients with hypothyroidism and 15 healthy subjects by means of the amino acid consumption test, a new tubeless test based on the measurement of plasma amino acid uptake by the pancreas during pancreatic enzyme synthesis stimulation.

Exocrine Pancreatic Function following Pancreatectomy
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1999Abstract: Pancreatic exocrine insufficiency can follow major pancreatic resection and result in the malabsorption of fat, causing symptoms of steator‐rhea, abdominal pain and weight loss. The extent of malabsorption will depend on the original disease process and the type and extent of surgical resection. The steatorrhea can be severe and difficult to
