Young Planets around Young Accreting Stars: I. Migration and Inner Stalling Orbits [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Planet migration within inner protoplanetary disks significantly influences exoplanet architectures. We investigate various migration mechanisms for young planets close to young stars. To quantify the stochastic migration driven by turbulent disks, we incorporate planets into existing 3-D MHD disk simulations of magnetospheric accretion.

The OATMEAL Survey. I. Low Stellar Obliquity in the Transiting Brown Dwarf System GPX-1

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We introduce the OATMEAL survey, an effort to measure the obliquities of stars with transiting brown dwarf companions. We observed a transit of the close-in ( P _orb = 1.74 days) brown dwarf GPX-1 b using the Keck Planet Finder spectrograph to measure ...

The timescale for giant planet formation : constraints from the rotational evolution of exoplanet host stars

open access: yes, 2008
The timescale over which planets may form in the circumstellar disks of young stars is one of the main issues of current planetary formation models. We present here new constraints on planet formation timescales derived from the rotational evolution of ...

The Fate of Oceans on First-generation Planets Orbiting White Dwarfs

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Several groups have recently suggested that small planets orbiting very closely around white dwarf stars could be promising locations for life to arise, even after stellar death.

TOI-6038 A b: A Dense Sub-Saturn in the Transition Regime between the Neptunian Ridge and Savanna

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We present the discovery and characterization of a sub-Saturn exoplanet, TOI-6038 A b, using the PARAS-2 spectrograph. The planet orbits a bright ( m _V  = 9.9), metal-rich late F-type star, TOI-6038 A, with T _eff  = 6110 ± 100 K, $\mathrm{log}\,g=4.11 ...

The Cold Jupiter Eccentricity Distribution is Consistent with EKL Driven by Stellar Companions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The large eccentricities of cold Jupiters and the existence of hot Jupiters have long challenged theories of planet formation. A proposed solution to both of these puzzles is high-eccentricity migration, in which an initially cold Jupiter is excited to ...
