Pronunciation Issues and Varieties of English from an EIL Perspective: A Survey of Outer and Expanding Circle Learners’ Beliefs

open access: yes, 2014
In a globalized era where English keeps the position of an international language, learnt and spoken by lots of people from diverse linguistic, cultural and national backgrounds, there is a need for a new perspective towards English as an international ...

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

ANALYTIC EXPANDING CIRCLE MAPS WITH EXPLICIT SPECTRA

open access: yes, 2014
. We show that for any λ ∈ C with |λ | < 1 there exists an analytic expanding circle map such that the eigenvalues of the associated transfer operator (acting on holomorphic functions) are precisely the nonnegative powers of λ and λ.

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Majorisation ordering of measures invariant under transformations of the interval

open access: yes, 2010
PhDMajorisation is a partial ordering that can be applied to the set of probability measures on the unit interval I = [0, 1). Its defining property is that one measure μ majorises another measure , written μ , if R I fdμ R I fd for every ...

Horseshoes for a class of nonuniformly expanding random circle maps

open access: yes
We propose a notion of random horseshoe for one-dimensional random dynamical systems with non-uniform expansion, and we provide sufficient conditions that guarantee their abundant existence, which is shown to hold for a class of non-uniformly expanding ...
