In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Active Distribution Network Expansion Planning Based on Wasserstein Distance and Dual Relaxation

open access: yesEnergies
In the future, a high proportion of distributed generations (DG) will be integrated into the distribution network. The existing active distribution network (ADN) planning methods have not fully considered multiple uncertainties, differentiated regulation

Transmission Expansion Planning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A critical issue in the operation of electric energy systems is the capacity of the transmission lines that enable energy flows from generation nodes to demand nodes. In this chapter, we analyze the transmission expansion planning (TEP) problem, which allows a transmission planner to identify the optimal transmission reinforcements to be carried out ...

A game-theoretic model for generation expansion planning: Problem formulation and numerical comparisons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper presents an application of noncooperative game theory to generation expansion planning (GEP) in a competitive electricity industry. We apply the Cournot model of oligopoly behavior to formulate a GEP model that may characterize expansion ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Transmission Network Expansion Planning Considering Line Switching

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Commonly, in the transmission network expansion planning (TNEP) problem, the objective is to define the minimal-cost investment in new transmission devices, e.g., the transmission lines and transformers, for the system to operate adequately in a planning

Climate policy costs of spatially unbalanced growth in electricity demand: the case of datacentres. ESRI Working Paper No. 657 March 2020 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We investigate the power system implications of the anticipated expansion in electricity demand by datacentres. We perform a joint optimisation of Generation and Transmission Expansion Planning considering uncertainty in future datacentre growth under ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
