Asymptotic option price with bounded expected loss
This paper studies the problem of option pricing in an incomplete market, where the exact replication of an option may not be possible. In an incomplete market, we suppose a situation where a hedger wants to invest as little as possible at the beginning,

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

A Parametric Analysis of Prospect Theory's Functionals for the General Population [PDF]
This paper presents the results of an experiment that completely measures the utility function and probability weighting function for different positive and negative monetary outcomes, using a representative sample of N = 1935 from the general public ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

A newsvendor model with service and loss constraints [PDF]
Actual performance measurement systems do not only consider financial measures like costs and profits but also non-financial indicators with respect customer service, quality and flexibility.

Performance measurement with loss aversion [PDF]
We examine a simple measure of portfolio performance based on prospect theory, which captures not only risk and return but also reflects differential aversion to upside and downside risk.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

The economics of insurance: a review and some recent developments. [PDF]
The present paper is devoted to different methods of choice under risk in an actuarial setting. The classical expected utility theory is first presented, and its drawbacks are underlined.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Expected exponential loss for gaze-based video and volume ground truth annotation
Many recent machine learning approaches used in medical imaging are highly reliant on large amounts of image and groundtruth data. In the context of object segmentation, pixelwise annotations are extremely expensive to collect, especially in video and ...
