A deterministic algorithm for experimental design applied to tomographic and microseismic monitoring surveys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
SUMMARY Most general experimental design algorithms are either: (i) stochastic and hence give different designs each time they are run with finite computing power, or (ii) deterministic but converge to results that depend on an initial or reference ...

Clinical Course and Impact of Breaks in Therapy for Children With Relapsed/Refractory Solid Tumors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pediatric relapsed or refractory (R/R) solid tumors carry a dismal prognosis, and postrelapse patient experiences are not well described. We present postrelapse outcomes, including number of R/R events and subsequent therapy regimens.

Criterion‐Related Validity of the Neuropsychological Quick Assessment for Screening Cognitive, Motor, and Behavioral Impairments in Patients With Pediatric Brain Tumors: An Observational Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuropsychological complications may impair the qualitative prognosis of patients with pediatric brain tumors. However, multifaceted evaluations cannot be conducted in all patients because they are time consuming and burdensome for patients.

Use of multivariate experimental designs for optimizing the reductive degradation of an azo dye in the presence of redox mediators

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2014
The optimization of the anaerobic degradation of the azo dye Remazol golden yellow RNL was performed according to multivariate experimental designs: a 2² full-factorial design and a central composite design (CCD).

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
