Vortex solitons in dispersive nonlinear Kerr type media
We have investigated the nonlinear amplitude vector equation governing the evolution of optical pulses in optical and UV region. We are normalizing this equation for the cases of different and equal transverse and longitudinal size of optical pulses, of ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Charge symmetry violation: a NNLO study of partonic observables
Charge and isospin symmetry violations to valence and sea distribution functions in the nucleon are evaluated (at low resolution scale) by means of a meson cloud model and light-cone quark wave functions.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Template switching during DNA replication is a prevalent source of adaptive gene amplification
Copy number variants (CNVs) are an important source of genetic variation underlying rapid adaptation and genome evolution. Whereas point mutation rates vary with genomic location and local DNA features, the role of genome architecture in the formation ...

A model for the spacetime evolution of heavy-ion collisions at RHIC
We investigate the space-time evolution of ultrarelativistic Au-Au collisions at full RHIC energy using a schematic model of the expansion. Assuming a thermally equilibrated system, we can adjust the essential scale parameters of this model such that the

Experimental Studies of Cultural Evolution
Abstract This chapter reviews how experiments have played a growing role in the study of cultural evolution recently. Experiments occupy a middle ground between formal models and real-world observational and historical studies. Like models, they offer the advantages of control and manipulation in order to determine causal relations ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
