Experimental Model of Varicocele

European Urology, 1989
The purpose of this investigation was to create a varicocele model in animals and to study the subsequent alterations in testicular physiology. The study comprised 22 dogs divided into 2 groups: test and control. In the test group (17 dogs), excision of a longitudinal strip of the fasciomuscular tube of the spermatic cord was done on one side only.

Cytogenetic and experimental models

Current Opinion in Oncology, 1992
The sarcomas, particularly those of soft tissue origin, often contain characteristic immunohistochemical and cytogenetic features that are of diagnostic relevance. Over the past year, novel findings have been reported that are likely to improve present sarcoma diagnostic capabilities.

Experimental models of migraine

2010
In vitro studies on animal and human cephalic vessels allow the measurement of second messengers or intracellular calcium concentrations and the evaluation of the role of endogenous neuropeptides in perivascular nerve endings involved in migraine pathophysiology. In addition, in vitro human models allow the assessment of receptorial cranial selectivity

Cytogenetics and experimental models

Current Opinion in Oncology, 1997
The use of cytogenetics has led to significant improvement in the diagnoses and classification of sarcomas. Many of the major sarcomas have been to have characteristic tumor-specific chromosomal translocations that are currently used in the diagnosis of these tumors.

Experimental Models of Schizophrenia

International Journal of Neuroscience, 1991
The Kraepelinian subtypes, developed early in the century, recognize the heterogeneity of schizophrenia but do not reliably predict differences in response to classical neuroleptics. The newer distinction of positive and negative syndromes in schizophrenia carry promise as an approach to identifying meaningful clinical and neurobiological dimensions ...

Experimental models of asthma

Lung, 1982
Ideally, animal models of bronchial asthma should exhibit most if not all features of human bronchial asthma. The general aim of developing such animal models has undoubtedly been to reproduce the human disease in order to study its pathophysiology and pathogenesis.

Experimental Model of Lymphedema

Vascular Surgery, 1990
The authors describe a new exper imental model for lymphedema of rabbit ear. The method proved to be reliable and easily reproducible. The dilatation of lymph vessels after ex perimental provocation of lymphe dema permits study of the physio pathologic basis of lymphovenous shunts created by means of micro surgery and proves to be helpful for the ...

Experimental models in asthma

Clinical & Experimental Allergy, 1999
Histamine is an important mediator released from activated mast cells in acute bronchoconstriction provoked by allergen, exercise, hypertonic stimuli and inhaled adenosine. Histamine may also contribute to the allergen‐induced late asthmatic response probably following the recruitment and activation of basophils.
