Experimental Framework to Simulate Rescue Operations after a Natural Disaster

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2020
Computational simulation is a powerful tool for performance evaluation of computational systems. It is useful to make capacity planning of data center clusters, to obtain profiling reports of software applications and to detect bottlenecks.

Constant DC output boost converter for solar system sourace model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A Neural network controller of DC-DC boost converter is designed and presented in this project. In order to control the output voltage of the boost converter, the controller is designed to change the duty cycle of the converter. The mathematical model

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Comparative analysis of flow patterns in planar and conical nozzles with narrow divergent angles [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions
The flow pattern in supersonic nozzles applied to the aerospace area is recurrently studied, since the geometrical profiles of the internal walls have a significant effect on the development of the flow regime.

Torque control of switched reluctance motors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents the performance of an instantaneous torque control method. The simulation and experimental results illustrate the capability of Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM) being used in the motor drive industry. Based on experimental data, the

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Experimental Quantum Simulation of Entanglement in Many-body Systems

open access: yes, 2011
We employ a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) quantum information processor to simulate the ground state of an XXZ spin chain and measure its NMR analog of entanglement, or pseudo-entanglement.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

A LOGICAL AND ONTOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK FOR KNOWLEDGE DISCOVERY ON GENE REGULATORY NETWORKS. CASE STUDY: BILE ACID AND XENOBIOTIC SYSTEM (BAXS)

open access: yesJournal of Bioinformatics and Genomics, 2020
This work aims to develop a novel computational framework for automatic or semi-automatic modeling of gene regulatory networks, in which possible connections between genetic structural knowledge and other forms of knowledge available about GRNs can be ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status
