Experimental Stress Analysis and Stress Concentration Factor – A Review

ECS Transactions, 2022
A machine component goes through various stress conditions and it is essential for a designer to analyze the stresses generated in the component accurately. Experimental stress analysis plays a vital role in designing a component.

An experimental stress analysis of the neck of the femur

Medical & Biological Engineering, 1971
The paper is concerned with the experimental analysis of the distribution of stress across the neck of the femur (thigh bone). The case considered was that of a man supported on one leg, a position which imposes maximum static load on the femur. The frozen stress method of three dimensional photoelasticity was adopted as the means of solution.

An experimental analysis of delayed posttraumatic stress

Behaviour Research and Therapy, 1984
Abstract Three self-report anxiety questionnaires were administered to a sample of Lebanese undergraduates shortly before the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982. Six months after the disengagement of forces, the investigator located 20 S s who had remained in West Beirut throughout the siege and 35 S s who had evacuated to safer environs.

Experimental Stress Analysis for Materials and Structures

2015
The contents presented in this book are, in the opinion of the authors, an essential conceptual basis for the training of professional mechanical engineers in the fi eld of experimental methods applied to theory of structures. Our intention is not to give an overview of all the experimental methods used in stress analysis, as we present only those that ...

Experimental Stress Analysis of Rails

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1965
The paper describes the experimental stress analysis of a range of rail sections and a fishplated joint carried out by means of a loading frame which accommodated a short length of track, hydraulic jacks with load cells, and electrical resistance strain gauges. The most detailed test was that of the B.S. 110A rail which after being tested ‘as rolled’

FAILURE ANALYSIS AND EXPERIMENTAL STRESS ANALYSIS OF A THREADED ROTATING SHAFT

Engineering Failure Analysis, 1998
The occurrence of a fracture of an actuator wormshaft, used for opening and closing a valve in Koeberg's Nuclear Power Station cooling water system, during routine testing, was cause for concern. Two such fractures occurred in a particular type of actuator shaft and another 40% of such shafts exhibited fatigue cracking.
