Experimental Verification of Decoherence-Free Subspaces

Science, 2000
Using spontaneous parametric down-conversion, we produce polarization-entangled states of two photons and characterize them using two-photon tomography to measure the density matrix. A controllable decoherence is imposed on the states by passing the photons through thick, adjustable birefringent elements.

Experimental Verification for ADVA

2018
This chapter studies the application of three-way adaptive dynamic vibration absorber in a typical piping system of vessel, including the vibration characteristics analysis of a typical piping system of vessel, the vibration absorption effect test under single-frequency excitation, and the vibration absorption effect under the actual working conditions.

Interferometry and the Doppler effect an experimental verification

Journal of Modern Optics, 1997
The fluctuations in the output of an interferometer when one of the mirrors is moved are actually due to a shift in the frequency of the beam reflected from the moving mirror. We describe an experiment which demonstrates unambiguously the existence of such a frequency shift.

Experimental verification of dynamic soaring in albatrosses

Journal of Experimental Biology, 2013
SUMMARY Dynamic soaring is a small-scale flight manoeuvre which is the basis for the extreme flight performance of albatrosses and other large seabirds to travel huge distances in sustained non-flapping flight. As experimental data with sufficient resolution of th ese small-scale movements are not available, knowledge is lacking about ...

Experimental verification of nondiffracting X waves

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 1992
The propagation of acoustic waves in isotropic/homogeneous media and electromagnetic waves in free space is governed by the isotropic/homogeneous (or free space) scalar wave equation. A zeroth-order acoustic X wave (axially symmetric) was experimentally produced with an acoustic annular array transducer.

Experimental verification of an innovative debris detector

Acta Astronautica, 2015
Abstract To analyse the quantity of space debris and micrometeoroids in space, an innovative in-situ impact detection method has been developed at DLR (German Aerospace Center) in Bremen, Germany. The method Solar generator based Impact Detector “SOLID” uses solar panels for impact detection.

Experimental Verification of Superachromatism

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1966
To verify superachromatism experimentally a five-element prism, to deviate a beam of light approximately 30 degrees without dispersion or distortion, has been designed and constructed from three types of Schott glass. When tested on a spectrometer, viewing a narrow slit with a telescope magnification of approximately 30 times, no dispersion could be ...

EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION OF OVERDISPERSION IN RADIOASSAY DATA

Health Physics, 2002
New evidence is provided suggesting that radioassay data are frequently overdispersed with respect to the Poisson distribution. Twelve cases of radioassay data were measured using commonly available detection systems. The data were analyzed using a limited version of the overdispersion model developed earlier.

Experimental Verification of a Bigrating Beam Rider

Physical Review Letters, 2019
An optical beam rider making use of a light sail comprising two opposing diffraction gratings is experimentally demonstrated for the first time. We verify that the illuminated space-variant grating structure provides an optical restoring force, exhibiting stable oscillations when the bigrating is displaced from equilibrium.

Experimental Verification of Designer Surface Plasmons

Science, 2005
We studied the microwave reflectivity of a structured, near perfectly conducting substrate that was designed to verify the existence of a theoretically proposed new class of surface mode. Measurements of the mode's dispersion curve show that it correctly approaches the predicted asymptotic frequency; the curve also agrees well with that derived from a ...
