A Finite Axiomatization of G-Dependence

open access: yes, 2017
We show that a form of dependence known as G-dependence (originally introduced by Grelling) admits a very natural finite axiomatization, as well as Armstrong relations.

Explicit homogenized equation of a boundary-value problem in two-dimensional domains separated by an interface highly oscillating between two concentric ellipses

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2012
The main purpose of this paper is to find the homogenized equation and the associate continuity condition in the explicit form of a boundary-value problem in two-dimensional domains separated by an interface oscillating rapidly between two concentric ...

A PRSZT Registry Analysis of Prognostic Factors Influencing Survival and Relapse Rates After Second Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A second allogeneic (allo‐)hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT2) is a potential curative option for pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) following relapse after first allogeneic transplantation (HSCT1), but its efficacy is limited by high relapse rates and transplant‐related toxicity in highly pretreated ...

Thermodynamics of two black holes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We study a system of two charged non-rotating black holes separated by a strut. Using the exact solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations, which describes this system, we construct a consistent form of the first law of thermodynamics.

The Iranian Students & Teachers' Perceptions of the Role of Explicit Grammar Instruction & Error Correction [PDF]

open access: yesTeaching English Language, 2007
Grammar instruction and error correction are among the most hotly debated issues in second as well as foreign language education. Second language researchers and language educators have expressed different and sometimes contradictory ideas about them ...

Explicit congruences for mock modular forms

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 2016
In recent work of Bringmann, Guerzhoy, and the first author, p-adic modular forms were constructed from mock modular forms. This paper proves explicit congruences for these p-adic modular forms.

Evaluation of the Utility of Baseline Echocardiogram in Patients With Standard Risk Precursor B‐Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Background A routine baseline echocardiogram is often obtained prior to anthracycline administration in children with cancer. The utility of baseline echocardiogram is unclear in patients with standard risk B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (SR B‐ALL) as their anthracycline cumulative dose is low.

Numerical Analysis of Structures of Revolution using Universal Matrices Approach

open access: yesNigerian Journal of Technological Development, 2019
Stress and displacement analysis of structures of revolution under axisymmetric loading is of considerable interest in engineering. Many practical problems can be idealized as an axisymmetric case, which simplifies the analysis and reduces the ...

Polynomiality of monotone Hurwitz numbers in higher genera [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Hurwitz numbers count branched covers of the Riemann sphere with specified ramification, or equivalently, transitive permutation factorizations in the symmetric group with specified cycle types. Monotone Hurwitz numbers count a restricted subset of these

Upacicalcet: A Novel Intravenous Calcimimetic Agent for Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Secondary Hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication in patients receiving maintenance dialysis, driven by calcium and phosphate metabolism disturbances. Calcimimetics are central to the management of SHPT by enhancing calcium‐sensing receptor sensitivity and reducing parathyroid hormone secretion.
